Hello,

I would suggest you to stick with RH 7.3 and replace RH 8.1 with slackware
10 or mandrake 10.x .

I am using RH 7.3 from four/five years ... just keep it updating
(gcc/kernel/patches etc).

Rajiv

Subject: [ilug-cal] Which Linux Distribution?

Folks,

I run "ancient" Linux distributions -- RH7.3 and RH 8.0 -- on the two
PCs that I use regularly. I am thinking of upgrading to a more recent
distribution now. I seek advice/suggestions from you all about what
distribution to upgrade to. We all have our favourite distributions, so
I shall be glad if you can tell me what the strong points of your
favourite are.

Presently I have with me the install CDs of FC3 and Slackware 10.1. From
recent posts on the list I have been getting the feeling that people are
not too happy with FC3. Why is that? What is the experience with
Slackware 10.1? Sumeet Moghe, what say you?

I'm willing to consider distributions other than these two, if they seem
to have significant plus points.

Thanks,
- Manas Laha
