Professors at IIT or anywhere else are human beings too. Ask them how does it feel when they are isolated from the crowd (of not so intelligent ones) and made to sit on a high pedastal where they are to be worshipped like great gods of learning and knowledge.
I do believe Prof. Manas / Mr. Manas can very surely find a lot of help at IIT itself on the given topic, especially among his students and subordinate staff.
However, he would not have got such frank opinions (for obvious reasons) as he is getting on a list as that of ours here. Nor would he be able to engage his students and sub-staff to discussions on the choices (again for obvious reasons) as he can so openly do it here.
I am sure Prof. Manas / Mr. Manas also wants to feel as being part of the crowd, let us give him this oppurtunity to belong to the crowd of commons i.e. a LINUX USER (that he will not ask very explicitly).
Therefore I now request Prof. Manas/ Mr. Manas / Manas to echo his feelings on the topic.
with Regards, ASHWIN

I am really sorry if I hurt anybody's feelings/sentiments and I apologize. I certainly have no intention of disrespecting anyone, elder or younger to me, mearly by addressing them by their given name!
Prof. Manas, I had no intention of showing disrespect. I just didn't know.
Just strikes me strange that a person of Richard M. Stallman's stature is just RMS in all our mails, not Mr. Stallman or Dr. Stallman or something else. And I am sure no one has any intentions of disrespecting him.
Believe me, this is the great age of equalizers, equalizing age, gender, race, color and may be even species someday??? ;-)
