Well, to keep it sweet and simple, go for Ubuntu if you can live with
Gnome ... I haven't tried to learn if KDE is installable on it through
synaptic. But then maybe you will have to upgrade it to Hoary in April
... so if you can wait for 2 more months, then go for Ubuntu Hoary.

Your inputs certainly are going to be useful. I am a Gnome user so
that's no problem. I tried the Ubuntu live-CD that Prosun gave me, and
it seems okay. I'll add Ubuntu to my list of possibilities.
