Sorry to be late (but better late than never :-p). Sharninder is right, we all know that Y!M uses TCP/UDP 5000 to 5010 and 5050 but in fact it uses any open out bound port to connect to the yahoo servers. So to block Y!M you have only options left (a) If your network is a Window$ network block users from installing Y!M from the domain (b) Find out all the IPs used by Y!M and block 'em manually if you have enough time ;-p

No It does'nt. YM can even use HTTP (Port 80) for out
bound connections if everything else fails. Only
solution that I can think of is, use squid for all out
bound access and block all *.yahoo.com domains through
squid.
