Getting back to the topic-
Slackware 10.1 - Dropline Gnome 2.8.2 - kernel 2.6.10
because that combo is simply the best in what I have seen and I havent tried gentoo! Let the distro wars begin! :P

I used to use Slackware once -- in fact its the Linux I started with. Then, PCQuest shifted to RH and since, in those days, that magazine's CDs were my only source of Linux distributions, I went over to RH. But now, reading reviews of FC3, Slackware 10 and the others, and feedback from this list, I am inclined to return to Slackware once more.
I've been considering Debian, Gentoo and Ubuntu, but they all need a good internet connection in order to keep up to date and that's something I don't have at home, yet. I'm intending this upgrade for my home PC which runs RH 7.3 presently.
Thanks for the feedback.
