After you installed it, inform about the speed of the machine. Infact I also use P-I-200MHz,32EDO-10GB. It will be helpful for me to take decision for switching over to Slackware.

Being a long time Debian user, I agree that a good internet connection is needed to keep a Debian/Gentoo based distro updated and if you don't have that, your best bet would be to go with a CD based distro. Having played with slackware, I would say slackware is pretty good. Its fast, stable and is CD based. Go for it.

Thanks, I am right now doing a "full" install of Slackware 10.1 on a spare Pentium I/100 MHz/20 GB machine. I thought I'd try it out this way first, not having worked with Slackware in a long time.
