Being a long time Debian user, I agree that a good
internet connection is needed to keep a Debian/Gentoo
based distro updated and if you don't have that, your
best bet would be to go with a CD based distro. Having
played with slackware, I would say slackware is pretty
good. Its fast, stable and is CD based. Go for it.
