IIRC, Nirmalya did some work with CalTel, prior to his present stint with WBPCB. Nirmalya: Is there anyone sensible in CalTel Customer Relations that we could talk to? To my mind the problem is larger that CalTel, it is a BSNL one that is country-wide in nature. But we can start at home. Here is my proposed plan of action: 1. Create an online database of users using DataOne from Linux (we can start with members on our list) & a list of problems they are facing 2. Based on #1 create a petition & signature campaign 3. Spread the word around on all the LUG/FSUG lists across india. (Our pet spammer Fred Noronha can be a great help here ;-) 4. Engage in dialog with CalTel as also with Consumers Action Forum 5. No need to get all antsy and legal right now 6. Establish a document trail that we have tried "all" avenues for redressal 7. Propose alternatives to BSNL - e.g. RIM has an user-support user forum that is quite active and rather useful (even sometimes more than the official RIM site) 8. Engage in dialog with importers/distributors/manufacturers of ADSL modems - DLink, LinkSys (CISCO) etc and have them put up support pages for Linux just my 2p :) -indra -- Indranil Das Gupta Chief Technology Architect L2C2 Technologies -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- [ Innovations that make a Difference ] -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Email : [EMAIL PROTECTED] Phone : (0)-98300-20971 WWW : http://www.l2c2.org -- To unsubscribe, send mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the body "unsubscribe ilug-cal" and an empty subject line.
