It may be that the best GUIs are found in Linux. But it is essentially the 
inflexible design which is bad. If we need to make changes beyond a level we 
need to virtually build it up. 

GUIs should be composable. If X is a program, then there must be a set F(X) of 
admissible GUIs from which we must be able to select our desired GUI or 
compose it from some criteria. So long as this is not easily available, GUIs 
are condemned by design. This applies to GUIs of applications and also the 
desktops.
