[posting it to FSUG-TVM also, since the community is involved and we work as a group, nothing personal] I tried to post this comment several times, but all the time i do it, it threw an error wp-spamfree. Please review your settings so that I have the freedom to express my thoughts. Since I also play a major role in your drama. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hello Jayson As you say i may be the 'militant Free software activist' and i am proud to be one. And i dont think it is a bad thing to be one. Considering the fact that people like you lack the fire in you to fight for your own freedoms. But as of now you don't even realize your own freedoms and there is no use talking to you to fight for your freedom. My aim is to help people who want to break the barriers of proprietary software but do not know how they can do it. You say that we have to trust people http://www.lafkon.net/tc/ I am not sure that my gmail will be send to Uganda and i am looking for an alternative. Free software didn't start yesterday. Its been 25 long years. Its not like we get up from a dream and start using free software. There is a long way to go.(Uganda is not a bad place. Maybe America is!!) (continued) >>How do you know that your milkman is not a spy? Yea man i am not sure about that. That is how the whole mumbai terror attack happened. To trust someone you need to be living in a safe place. And the world we live in is not at all safe[Sarcasm]. By trusting a proprietary software i am sure taking the huge risk. But in free software you are absolutely free. And there is no need to take a risk. Why in the world should i opt for the first one when there is a better option. >>Now even for open source software like Ubuntu, how can I be sure that the binary release doesn't contain a spyware?? Just now you talked about trust and what is this yaar?? Well i will give you an oppurtunity to use the system in full peace of mind. Compile it from the source and use it and to be more specific i am against blobs also. Ubuntu is never a full free OS. Maybe you can try gNewSense or Debian. >>Now is anyone illegally preventing you to do anything you want with Free Software? If not, why are you full of hate for companies like Microsoft? Because they try to restrict the freedom of users through software patents. And the biggest example is the M$-Novell pact. And i think i answered your question. And about why you are not bothered anymore to answer to my comments. I think its because you dont have apt answers to my questions. So free software is not against buying or selling software. But it is against proprietary software. @vu2swx >>>He is a typical free software volunteer. Look at his profile and pic. No use fighting him. Let him preach to the masses. So in your opinion someone who is wearing white and who is clean shaved(beard) like you is a good volunteer. Understand that Freedom is for everyone and it is one's Fundamental duty to safe guard others Freedoms. So better think about yourself when you say that typical(your grouping)volunteers are just preachers. And try to think for yourself and find your faults. Try sometimes to help your neighbours. Think out of the 'technology' too. We are all basically Human-Beings and the society was made out of sharing knowledge and co-operation. Principles and ideas do matter a lot. And we can see lot of social movements from history which has made our lives better. And the Free software movement is also one which aims to liberate the masses from proprietary softwares. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -- Anoop Jacob Thomas --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ "Freedom is the only law".
