>>"I can see that. It also appears to me that you guys would go to any extend (even breaking the law) as the Novell incident clearly proved."<<< Well if that is the case then no one can protest to anything. And so no one should be protesting in front of the Secretariat. And in the case of Novell, it was a peaceful protest and it was the organisers who made it violent( in my view).
> Your freedom need not be mine. Who are you decide what I consider as > "freedom"?. > To me freedom is not something absolute. We never will have absolute > freedom, it is only an illusion. Well it means you cannot ask me "why are you full of hate for companies like Microsoft?" Its my freedom to bash M$. I am an optimist, I believe in absolute freedom. >>Sorry, I think Zimbabwe is more appropriate for you.<< Yea i love Zimbabwe and i love my fellow beings. It is human beings who live there or for that matter anywhere you are going to mention. We should be civilized(no personal injury meant) enough not to underestimate humans based on the place they belong to. That is your fundamental duty. >>"By thinking that your milkman or accountant is not a terrorist, you are taking a big chance."<< I never thought that way. Please go through my post again. I stated that the mumbai terror attack took place due to trusting others blindly. >>"What if I prefer to pay and buy a proprietary system from a well known software vendor? What if I prefer that over the hassle of all these source/compile nonsense (I am talking from an end user perspective). Does that make me a bad person? What nonsense! The same can be said of almost everything that we use."<<< Use proprietary software and take the risk. Its your freedom. The local free software user's groups have been supporting end users which include people who are not technically sound. And i asked you to compile from source because you said that Ubuntu may be having spywares in their binary releases. So it means you have full freedom with the system. >>Promote free software, but start bad mouthing others as if you are the saints.<< I have my Freedom. I am a saint! [sarcasm] >>Simple. The laws of the land are made by people right? India is a democracy, why can't we have a law banning software patents? What can Microsoft do? As I said earlier *software patents are evil*, no question about it.<< I am not talking only about India. I am talking about the whole world. Its about the whole mankind. No boundaries, in my thoughts there are no boundaries. Cheers! No Software Patents. >>Instead of preaching and bad mouthing others, I want to know constructive real work you guys have done on the free software. It is easy to talk and start flame wars, but can you create a single solid free software product?<< About what I have done, I succesfully organised the first GNU/Linux Install Fest by this community. We had around 35 installations that single day. Its not just me, the whole community support was behind the event. I took an intiative, if you are asking specifically about me. We had another 4 install fests including the FSFS.IN event. Not just that, we also conducted few talks in colleges and thus we( the community) have tried in our own way to spread the word about free software. And it was the whole community effort to localise the OS(GNU/Linux) to Malayalam. And many fonts have been designed by the community members. We had a poster exhibition with the last install fest which again was done by the community, (not just people from Trivandrum) which was done to educate the common man in the most simple way . Again the poster exhibition was my idea and the whole community worked for it. So its never an inividual effort. We value your works too(if you have done anything ). But please do not underestimate others works or overestimate your work. There are many Free Software products done by the communitiies including the Debian GNU/Linux distribution considering communities around the world and also localised versions of GNU/Linux considering the local communities. These are my humble replies to your comments. I have one last question, Is proprietary software your sole interest? We will keep on doing our work. We will always keep spreading Free Software. -- Anoop Jacob Thomas --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ "Freedom is the only law".
