(says so in their site itself) PiTiVi is good for simple video cutting and joining, but if you are looking for replacement for Windows Moviemaker or Powerdirector then it is not sufficient. It doesn't have effects or transitions plugins. I dont know much about kdenlive, because it crashes midway. Maybe its because I'm using it on gnome DE -- "Freedom is the only law".
