If you are using VLC, Totem or mplayer dervatives, then you should not use
openshot, because it will remove the ffmpeg codecs/plugins of your player if
you install it from PPA. (says so in their site itself)

PiTiVi is good for simple video cutting and joining, but if you are looking
for replacement for Windows Moviemaker or Powerdirector then it is not
sufficient. It doesn't have effects or transitions plugins.

I dont know much about kdenlive, because it crashes midway. Maybe its
because I'm using it on gnome DE
