Gnu/Linux has so many technical advantages over windows:-

It is much faster and system response is higher. Since its open sourced,
possibilities are endless. Windows has monolithic closed structure.
Windowers have to wait for any updation/new features till the company
announce it but in Gnu/Linux you will get modern computer features at the
time, like Airo-theme,multitouch, etc etc.(this time, Gnu/Linux world
invents new ideas/features closed source are adapting them). But this is
all about some geekies, I agree, for a normal user who doesnt want to
interfere with techno stuffs, windows still a safe ground. But it doesnt
mean its the best.

Well, this problem still in Windows. Wat about installing a WinXP software
package in Win98 or other versions.. I used to get such errors when I try to
install , " Windows installer cannot found". or some other alien thing is
not installed in this system.. So still, for a newbie/novice/non-technical
user, there are Gnu/linux distros like Mandriva,Ubuntu which are able to
fulfill a perfect desktop usage with all multimedia features..

So, simply, its about choice, I dont think any newbies will run after some
XYZ or ALBHA BETA GAMMA Gnu/linux distro..They can opt simply Mandiriva,Suse
or Ubuntu..
