First of all no offence, and not forcing you to change your view, similar way from my experiences I have my viewpoint.
See Narendra, when we say about helping a newbie in migrating we(not all may be)/I implicitly take it as some popular distro/some distro which the helper is comfortable with. And with popular distro's I am 100% sure the softwares are available in a bundle. And since I have no clue what package management XYZlinux uses, give me the list of of packages you need with version number and you can come over and I will be able to give you the tar-balls. But, in your case since I don't know you personally I wouldn't prefer that, but for a known friend I am always willing to do it, in fact my friends have come to my place with their boxes/laps and I have helped them. And I also have helped few friends at their house with bundle of softwares. But once it occurred that one system needed some nvidia driver which I didn't have, so I had to go there the next day with the required packages and driver. -- Anoop Jacob Thomas http://anoop.caremedia.org -- "Freedom is the only law".
