If availability of internet connection is an issue, using Mandriva Free DVD distro is the best option. No need to use internet-installation for almost all needs of a home user. Windows does have issues,more than Gnu/Linux actually. Using tons of Antivirus/antispyware/malware make computer usage is like war-preparation. Lacking of device drivers/multimedia support will be solved in future.. OEM's cannot avoid the growing rate of Gnu/Linux users. -- Life is NOT Free!!!
