 So, like I mentioned maybe you should report it, but before that ...

I told them, they said they would revert - they did not

Told them as in created a bugzilla ? If you did and nobody replied, that's a pity but you did your bit anyways. Could you dig out the BZ number ?

 What do you mean by hard coded ? Did you add it to the routes in the GUI
  tool  (ie: nm-applet->right click->edit connections->select
  connection->edit->ipv4 settings->route) ?

no - I did not

Ok. so in what way is it hard coded then ?

 Again, this also indicates that the default gateway is being 'set' or
  'reset' from someplace outside of NM (and when it fails -- which it would
  if the gateways doesn't belong to the network you are setting it for --
  you end up with an empty default gateway).

default gateway is not being set.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. That's what I meant (empty == not being set).

Anyways, could you also paste the contents of /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 ? and paste (or pastebin) the log messages from /var/log/messages when you switch a connection using NetworkManager ?

cheers,
