In most engg. colleges, the choice of distro is mainly decided by sys.
admins / lab assistants (their most preferred choice is RedHat/Fedora).

As I remember, the above question is already addressed in one of the threads
in ilugc. As I tried creating
a kickstart for Ubuntu and requested for help, nobody in the list replied to
that mail (Most often what i get is, only free advice and not any serious
help for my requests in supporting the initiative)

I spend only limited time in colleges (i have to start the foss lab setup as
early by 9.30 a.m. and complete by 4.30 - 5.00 pm for nearly 60 computers
installed with 4524 rpm packages).

In fact, many of the colleges who already have RedHat/Ubuntu linux,
requested me to remove the existing installation and asked me to install
fedora, as they have all the required applications right after the
installation.
