FOSS lab setup is free of cost only for the first 30-35 computers and additional computers are charged at Rs.200/- each (in multiples of 10). So far, only one college has requested and paid for additional computers. Few of the colleges were interested in purchasing our FOSS lab server to implement open source throughout the institution (our business model remains sustainable/profitable only in this way). Additionally we also provide services like implementation of DSpace with browser based video streaming for NPTEL video contents developed by IITs and IISc and LTSP based lab setup for internet browsing / first year lab in engineering colleges. Currently we serve about 300+ academic institutions in the state and hope to double this no. in the next two years. As I see many of the Institutions in Tamilnadu have been heavily investing for new technology related products, FOSS related products / services has good market potential in the educational vertical.
