None of the tutorials at http://www.blender.org will help you start much smoothly from beginning. I did try and learn blender for 3-4 months (personal interest). I read many articles and tutorials available on Internet. But then, I stopped when i was learning the bone and skeleton work. That was little difficult for me to get what I really want. Anyway, Blender is very good package.
