i propose the following other lines of action:
1) indian language encoding (typography, standards, implementation,
translation, adoption, tools such as text2speech, ocr, etc etc)
2) indian linux distribution, much like what china is doing. perhaps this
could incorporate the work done at indlinux.org
3) a quick-action centre to deal with those who violate the licensing of open
source software. and also looks at how to adapt copyright and patents policy
to indian needs and conditions, much like how the european union is
considering the issue.
4) linux events (conferences, workshops, fairs, exhibitions, seminars:
targetted at general and vertical markets)
5) funding: finding funds and support for projects that need to be developed
under linux/oss/fsf that have relevance to india. [both hardware and software]
6) publications division: publishing and distributing books, magazines, and
newsletters, written by indians, for indians. [what a paucity of these for
indian linux users for the moment.]
7) eGovernance: the why and how of incorporating linux into eGovernance. [use
taxpayers' money for other things than paying for licensing of proprietory
software]
