Hi, I feel the initiative by EFY to bring out a magazine for Linux community is very encouraging. Linux has to reach common man and they have to associate with it and ultimately find stake in it.
If you could send me further details on when will the first issue come out and any other info, it will help me document them for the DIT/MoIT. Regarding your suggestions (a) I would put them in the document for the DIT. Suggestion (b) is already under consideration Suggestion (C) I will forward the same to the Sr. Director in DIT looking after the Linux India Initiative. I feel more comfortable addressed "Maneesh" in place of Mr. Prasad (Mr. Prasad makes me feel like a profy) BTW, for clarification I am not a part of DIT/MoIT. I am a part of NGO called CSDMS which is working in the field of GIS, GPS and remote sensing, where in we are into publication of magazine: GIS@development & policy initiatives in the field mapping etc. with best wishes Maneesh Prasad Director, CSDMS G-4, Sector - 39, Noida - 201301, India Tel: +91-120-2502180-87, fax: +91-120-2500060 -----Original Message----- From: Rahul [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Wednesday, December 18, 2002 8:18 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [ilugd]: Linux India Initiative Importance: High Dear Mr Prasad, I have some very good news to add to your "Linux India Initiative." EFY group (publishers of Electronics For You and 'i.t.' Magazine) is planning to come out with a dedicated magazine on Linux. We would be glad to educate our readers about plans of MoIT under this initiative. We would like to work closely with the ministry to promote Linux in India. Some of the areas we feel we can collaborate on include: a) MoIT sponsors Linux For You magazine for all government agencies under Government of India, and EFY will in turn offer a subsidised package for the same b) MoIT can sponsor certain studies for checking potential and current levels of Linux, which the Linux For You team will carry out on their behalf c) The IT minister could honour us with an interview on how he views Linux for the inaugural issue and so can be We are also open to suggestions from MoIT. Please feel free to contact me in case you feel we can be of help to MoIT... Regards Rahul Chopra Editor, 'i.t.'
