I'm not sure if this helps, but....

Look at the actual PDF file you're trying to open (on the desktop.) Click
the icon so its highlighted. Go to SHOW INFO up in the Finder and look at
"Open with Application..." Change this to Adobe Acrobat, and hit CHANGE ALL
if you can. That might do the trick...
