Piece of cake to fix this. Tell your friend to open up Internet Explorer, and under the Explorer menu to go to Preferences. Along the left side of the window scroll down to receiving files, then click on file helpers. Then in the larger part of the window on the right, scroll down until he sees portable document format (pdf). Click on that, then click on Change at the bottom. There he can select whether he wants the pdf file to open right away or to just save to disk, and, if the former, which application should open it. Right now it undoubtedly says Preview as the application. He would click on the Browse button and then locate the correct file for Acrobat Reader (or Acrobate - the application). Hope this helps.

He's using IE version 5.2.1(Japanese). When he downloads a PDF file, it immediately opens in Preview and as try as he might to save it as a PDF file, it doesn't work, meaning the icon won't change to the Acrobat icon. I'm using a DP G4 500 MHz, running OS X 10.1.5 (English) and I cannot duplicate the problem. That is, when I download a file (using the same version of IE, except it's English), the file immediate opens in Acrobat. There's no way of disabling Preview, short of removing the application, I think, which I don't want to do anyway. Would the knowledgeable ones please instruct me on how to get Preview to save the file as Acrobat PDF document? Tia, Kay Narumi Tokyo, Japan >> ------------------------------ Michelle K.
