I've had Earthlink since 1997, first 3 years as a dial- up and since
late 2000 as DSL. The DSL has experienced about 5 or 6 outages over the
last 3 years, but none for more than a few hours. My DSL is lightning
fast (about 1.2 mbps, according to
<http://bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/>), I suppose, because of my
proximity to the phone switching center, or whatever it's called.

Also, they seem Mac- friendly, or at least they were. I haven't had
reason to call them for years, but they have on occasion helped me in
matters as esoteric as getting a Newton and an SE configured for email.
Right now I have teh DSL connection supplying 4 Macs, 2 of which being
served by an ABS and 2 hard- wired via an Ethernet hub and it all works
without a hitch.
