Then you'd be best off buying more RAM. OS X operates MUCH better if
you throw a lot of RAM at it, since it tries to use RAM for system
operations rather than VM whenever possible. I just upped my G3 iMac
(running 10.2.1) to 512 and *immediately* noticed a big jump in system
performance.

Lucky for you, the books on Jag are just hitting the street. I'd
suggest David Pogue's just-released-yesterday new version of OS X: The
Missing Manual. You might also want to grab The (Not So) Little OS X
Book by Robin Williams (not the comedian) when it gets revised.
Otherwise, just look for 10.2 on the label of the book and you should
be fine.

I'm guessing here, because all my machines are unpartitioned, but if I
was planning to put Jag on a partition by itself I'd want at least 3GB
if not more. Jag itself doesn't need that much, maybe half that, but it
uses big HD chunks for VM and if you're not going to max out the RAM
I'd leave PLENTY of room for Jag's VM needs (and, let's not forget,
future expansion!)
