Hi Chas, Macers:
I've wondered if the combination of optical drive/hard
drive/processor used in particular eMacs would have any bearing on
the amount of noise produced by the fan. Like would an eMac with a
SuperDrive/60GB HD/800MHz produce more heat and therefore need a
faster/noiser fan than say a Combo Drive/40GB HD/700MHz eMac?
I've read about the monitor problem that some owners have
experienced, and combined with the noise levels that others have
experienced has made me a bit hesitant towards deciding to get one.
Maybe I'd be better off waiting until the eMac line is revised. What
I'd really like to see Apple do is come out with an economical model
of Mac that would have limited expandability like the iMac/eMac, but
use a separate monitor. That would be cool. I also know that it's not
gonna happen.
