I had seen the Acomdata FW drives get a good review in MacWorld and do very well in benchmark testing and it was on sale at CompUSA for $129. I had been looking around for a FW drive and was actually planning on getting a new drive to install into the iMac and a bare FW case to install my current internal drive into. I did the math and the Acomdata turned out to be as about the same cost (or less depending on the bare FW case purchased) for a larger drive 60GB vs. the 40GB drives I had been considering. Other than all that it was an impulse purchase. :-)
The drive seems to work great and is fast! It feels much more resposive than my internal drive. I have not installed Jaguar onto it yet so I don't know if it will boot from there or not but OS 9.2.2 boots from it with no problem. I am waiting to figure out how to partition it in relation to a swap and/or user partition before installing Jaguar.
