I have been reading all of your suggestions, and not one person has mentioned the Quartz Enhanced video, or whatever you call it, acceleration in OS X...I know that it doesn't support our Imac video..but has anyone seen what difference it makes vs another machine..I upgraded to the full 6megs of VRAM..so I guess thats about all I can do, however some say it is sluggish on macs that don't have a supportive video card, meaning hey it will work, but if you have a video card it makes it faster than OS 9, but you dont so stick with 9, so I'm in a toss up...now another question..OS X supports Revision A's...does OS X support Revision A's with Upgrade cards? It says on Apple.com that they don't support upgrade cards..but do support the machine...anyone have any insight on a Revision A with a G3 upgrade being able to run OS X? Thanks, Josh
p.s. I'm thinking about replacing the Hard drive..however..im pretty sure the Imac has ATA 33 IDE capabilities...what would happend if the drive was ATA100..ie something in the 40-120 gb range...I can't seem to find an older drive that is large but even ATA 66 let alone 33...not to mention a 40-60gig ATA 100/7200 rpm drive is only about 60-80 dollars, which you can't beat..Let me know your experiences with adding a larger faster HD... p.s.s. www.datamem.com has a upper 256 meg module for 49 dollars, and the low profile lower chip 128meg..for 22 dollars..just grabbed the upper to raise me from 256 to 384..I'm pretty sure that is a good deal?! -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
