It's the other way around. OS X doesn't support *any* upgrade cards. 
The upgrade cards have to support OS X.

AFAIK, Sonnet's cards don't have a problem with this. I assume 
Powerlogix is the same way or they probably wouldn't still be in 
business.

This is the part where you visit the card makers' web sites and find 
out what they have to say.

It will work fine, just be slower than it would be if you put the same 
drive in, say, a G4 tower with an ATA133 bus.

This changes everyday. I just hit dealram.com to do a quick check, and 
it appears that a 256MB chip for the iBook (which is what I assume 
you're talking about ... complete sentences would be nice ...) runs 
about $29 plus shipping from OWC and Coast-to-Coast.
