Apologies in advance for "jumping in" late. >>The Reason your Rev A iMac runs so slow with Mac OS X Version 10.2, is because Mac OS X (Versions 10.0.0 - 10.2.2) Have no good Graphics Acceleration Support for Any of the early ATI RAGE Graphics Accelerators (ATI RAGE II, ATI RAGE IIc, ATI RAGE II+, ATI RAGE PRO, ATI RAGE PRO TURBO.) The only graphics accelerators Mac OS X supports are the ATI RAGE 128, ATI RAGE 128 PRO, ATI RAGE 128 ULTRA, ATI RADEON Cards and all the NVIDEA GEFORCE 2 - 4 Cards<< ---------------------------------- I don't wish to suggest that the slowness may be due to video. However, I do recall others on this list stating that they run 10.2 (not sure of 10.2.2) on rev A iMacs without any marked slowness. I hope other Rev A owners respond with suggestions or comments. FWIW, folks on other lists have reported slowness problems that resulted from permissions snafus. Those permissions snafus, which occurred following (during) a 10.2 or 10.2.2 install were repaired by running the "permissions" utility that can be accessed from the Apple Disk Repair Utility. Permissions Utility is a menu select option from this disk utility. Running it is worth a try.
Also, I have seen reports of others using PowerLogix accelerators successfully under 10.2. Jerry -- The iMac List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
