Hey Jerry, Thanks for the head-up. I'm the original poster and I FOUND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS!!! (I'm not yelling at you, I'm screaming with JOY!!!) It's my HP PhotoSmart 1215 printer. HP's drivers won't play with OS X.2.2. HP has given me a work-a-round to fix this, and I will be trying it this weekend. I'll post results when I get it working ;-) Anyway, as soon as I Uninstalled the HP s/w, my iMac rev.A is humming right along. Just for speed purposes, I think I'll give the "permissions" a try - maybe I'll pick up even more speed ;-O Thanks again for chiming in "late" -- J. R.
