While you can draw, sketch, etc. with the Newton, you can *not* do so with sensitivity superior to a dedicated graphics tablet. I love my Newton, but it's not a substitute for a Wacom. It also is not a peripheral in the same sense. The Newt is an actual computer. However, with regard to Inkwell, I have seen posts in Newton forums that indicate that many of those who have used both Inkwell and the Newt's handwriting recognition were not impressed with Inkwell, at least in its current incarnation. I don't have a Wacom tablet, so I have no opinion, but it is distressing to think that 5 years after the Newt's cancellation that there's been no massive improvement.
