It's possible the dealer put in either a defective battery or
the battery had a long shelf life.
I do not mean to imply that the dealer did it intensionally.
Do you turn off the ac power to your computer when not in use ?
There is some disagreement as to whether computer batteries
are trickle charged, if they are then the computer should have
ac power to it at all times.
