I just purchased my first Mac over Christmas: Summer 2000 iMac 350Mhz indigo, upgraded to 512 MB RAM
I have to laugh to myself as I sit here and flounder around with it. I have worked with PCs for about 20 years, now. I feel completely at ease working with DOS variants, Linux, Windows, etc... but sitting here in front of a Mac is giving me a newfound dose of humility. My questions: 1. Are there maintenance procedures that need to be run with some kind of frequency (ie, error checking and disk defragmentation)? 2. If so... where do I find the utilities that manage such needs? 3. What necessitates "rebuilding your desktop"? And how do I do such a thing?
