My bondi Blue iMac finally gave up. Please help.

My iMac screen turns off when extensions are loading on 9.2.2 start up. And if I
restart while pressing the shift key, there's no problem with the screen.

It used to happen once in a while before I installed Jaguar and I could solve the
problem just by restarting. After I sintalled Jaguar, the problem went out of hand and
I'm no longer able to restart it. The iMac is still working but the display is just
turned off.

One tech guy told me to just zap the PRAM which I did but I had no success.

I really don't know a lot about computers, so I assigned OS 9.2.2 again, as a startup
disk, and deleted "System" (OS X) folder and "Application" (OS X) folder, which I know
for sure were created by OS X. I thought it was OS X that was giving a problem. But
the problem didn't go away.

So, I decided to do a clean install of OS 9 and the problem still persisted.

Then I ran DiskFirstAid and I got the results below:

> Checking disk "Macintosh HD"

> Checking "Mac OS Standard" volume structures.

> Checking "Mac OS Extended" volume structures.

> Checking for locked volume name.

> Checking extent BTree

> Checking catalog file.

> Problem: Missing thread record, 194100, 1110

> Test done. Problems were found, but Disk First Aid cannot repair them.

So does this mean I have a harddrive problem or damage?

Please help. I don't want to format my hard Drive as I have many important files
there, and I haven't backed them up yet.

I'm running a 233 MHz Bondi Blue iMac with 256 MB RAM, OS 9.2.2.

Thanks for your help in advance.
