Regret I can't help with the main query but your mention of the Epson 890
prompts me to suggest a measure of caution there. I have an 890 and,
although it is a good printer, it's relationship with my iMac G4 is not a
very happy one. When printing text docs I have to go through the whole
print routine twice, which is pretty irritating. I have reloaded the
driver software three times, so it ain't that. I have a friend who also
has iMac/Epson trouble and we formed the view that perhaps Epson have not
managed to fold OS X fully into their own software.
