Sure. Apple will sell you an absolutely, pristine, virgin copy of Jaguar. (You can also check with them for the 9.2.2.. Even though it wasn't shown on the e-commerce site, they still had it available by phone a month ago.) Any of a number of authorized resellers; Small dog, OWC, MacMall, etc., have new copies of 9.2 available. > > So maybe I really want more control of what I am using, fine and dandy, > however in all of the explanations I can't really understanding Apple's > reasoning. > > Then again a blended system might be OK for those who want both worlds. > > Yes I could stay and use only 9.2 but then I'd think that maybe X > (marks > the sport eh?) was stealing or borrrowing from 9. > So call me crazy, eccentric, nuts, or whatever. Yes they are "separate", however, even if they were on separate HD's, on a single computer, they are "available" to the system as needed. > > In my book they are still on the same physical disc so crossover could > be > possible, or is it? Sure, but they wont do that on their own. Even in 9 it was possible to have multiple OS's on a single computer. Just use the one you want, with the understanding that if you are booted into 9 you do want to be trashing anything unless you are absolutely sure what it is. In 9 everything is available to the trash can. X includes a number of safeguards that protect against the over zealous trasher. ( Now if your a command line type? Then X is also vulnerable to over zealous deletion. <G>)
Unless you are locked into programs that only run in 9? make Jaguar your primary OS and enjoy all the benefits. 9 will still be there, instantly accessible if you need it, and causing no problems when it's not in use.
