As has been mentioned often before on this list, it's entirely a matter of personal preference. I have OS-8.6, OS-9.2, and OS-X all residing (and behaving well) on the same 8 gigabyte partition of my rev.B iMac. I can't imaging why anyone would think that each system's files would be anywhere but in its own respective System folder.
