As has been mentioned often before on this list, it's entirely a matter 
of personal preference.  I have OS-8.6, OS-9.2, and OS-X all residing 
(and behaving well) on the same 8 gigabyte partition of my rev.B iMac.  
I can't imaging why anyone would think that each system's files would 
be anywhere but in its own respective System folder.  That was the 
whole point of System folders and the System Startup Control Panel 
(since before System 8, I think).
