Well, many years ago on a DOS-based 386, my fiancee wanted to clear out some hard drive space and decided to delete everything she didn't use... unfortunately, she had this crazy idea that anything she didn't RECOGNIZE was ALSO something she didn't "use..." So, she deletes "COMMAND.COM" ;) And that's one of the main reason she still, to this day, doesn't have admin privileges on this computer... and no way in green HELL she's ever getting root access... Of course, even *I* don't have root access... I would probably be just as dangerous as she would in there... I'm kinda clueless in a command line... ;) Well... there's ONE command I use at the UNIX command prompt occasionally: fsck -y Usually when the computer has lost power in mid-operation so I can check on the health of the hard drive. Had to do that last night, actually, when the power went out while my fiancee was on-line chatting (where ELSE would she be...? ;)) John A.
