This seems to be exactly the problem. I ended up taking the little board with the switch off from behind the button and spraying the button with Teflon spray. The button seems to cycle in and out much better now. Thanks again for all of your help
Bill Bill: I had this problem with my wife's iMac DV. The power switch gets stuck in the "pushed in" position.
