Hi,

I am just wondering how many people have .Mac and if you consider it money
well spent ? If so, which features do you use the most ?

I am asking because I want to set up a a web photo gallery so our relatives
can see all our recent photos on-line. The .Mac account seems the easiest
option thus far.

I have looked at all kinds of on-line services but would prefer to make
things as simple as possible. I.e. Just download my photos to iPhoto, use
the homepage feature and publish them to the site.

Any comments or opinions on this would be much appreciated.

I've had it since it became .Mac and I have to say i really think it's improved many magnitudes over iTools. I find my iDisk useful (and it even works in Windows!!) for my random web design doodles i do when I'm playing with an idea for work, and I also find the spam free e-mail is a decided relief compared to my 'public' account which has over 50 spam messages a day skimmed off it by OS X Mail. That said I think $99 is too much and will have to swallow my pride, or my shoes, or my bank balance, or all 3 when i renew at the end of September.

Although I don't use the 'pre-fab' features supplied, I do know others who have and they are really easy, makes sharing pictures as easy as "lickin' a stamp", as it were.

All in all it's expensive, like most things Apple sell, but it's also well done and integrates well with Mac OS and new Apple technology, like most things Apple sell. If they deliver on the promised improvements in Panther to iDisk and .Mac access then it'll be a powerful tool to have in any Apple enthusiasts arsenal.

I use it, I need it and I want it, therefore i think it's worth the money. I'll leave you to decide if you fit the same criteria. I mean how could I possibly give up an e-mail address like mine just 'cause they wanted to charge ;)
