All in all it's expensive,
It's $8 a month for 100MB storage, an email address, iSync (bookmark & address syncing is awesome), and many other free extras Apple throws in. (100 iPhoto prints last year, a free game, Virex, some other stuff). And it has very good, very easy web creation tools. OH, and a nice webmail client. And probably several other things I forgot to mention.
And it's only $70 if you are buying a new machine (and everyone's buying a G5 dual, right? :)
.Mac is many things. Expensive is not one of them.
