I have a 17" 1Ghz iMac with DVD-RW. - And I love it to bits, only computer that hasn't let me down!

Does anybody know of any other programs for burning DVD-Videos on the iMac apart from iDVD. I don't like iDVD because it needs .mov files and i have none! I have a pile of MPEGs that i want to burn. - Also _if_ possible, is there one that isn't too picky about the quality of the file? Most of the videos i have won't play in Quicktime, only VLC.

Failing that, anyone know any good VCD Writing software for OS X that will accept AVI files and MPEG files, or a reliable encoder for the files?

Basicly, I have a bunch of videos that I would like to burn onto media that my DVD player will use (DVD/VCD). - The files may be slightly corrupt, i don't know, they just won't play in quicktime. - What programs will do it?

Thanks,
Dan

I have the flat panel 15" 800mhz with Superdrive. I thought it was DVD-Rewritable so I bought a re-writable disc but it won't recognize it. Any ideas?

I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings, but the 15" comes with a Combo drive, which is a CD writer, and DVD reader.

Hmmm...

I have 15" 800mhz iMac (2002) and I've been burning DVD's all weekend...=P

I stand corrected. I should have qualified that with "Among the current product line..." That's good though, maybe I wasn't the bearer of bad tidings after all.

If you've been burning DVDs all weekend, you've probably had time for about 5 :-) I can't believe how long it takes. Lots-o-data I suppose.

I KNOW...lol...that's alot of down time in between my iMac cookin' those DVD's. Oh well, I was able to cut the lawn, paint some stuff, cook on the grill, and fix the Girlfriend's car in between all those burns!..

I ordered the the entry level G5 with the Superdrive...I wonder how much faster it is to render and burn those DVDs???....

Now if I could only use my iMac's flat panel and swivel neck with it........hehe...(I have asked earlier on this board....the answer was a resounding Forrrgetttaboutttiiit...LOL....)
