Interesting, as the OSX 10.1 boxes had Japanese writing on them.

This last bit bothered me as well. Pre OSX a Mac couldn't boot from as OS
older than it was shipped with. With OSX this isn't so, but I'm not sure if
this is with all Macs. Earlier this year I installed OSX Server 10.1 for a
customer on an eMac that shipped with 10.2.
