On the other hand, there would be no more Apple as lusers bought Intel iron to run OS X in some "good enough" configuration.
Apple is not a software company. They are a hardware company that produces amazingly great software. Without hardware they are dead.
The average user, (from whom i've seen....i'm talking about the people that do nothing special in particular, home users.) won't want to buy an expensive mac when he/she can just use their pc,
And won't buy an expensive OS either. The vast majority of users are using the OS that was installed on their machine when they bought it.
