Three big fat letters - USB.The only USB related problem I have had is when I yank my Alcatel SpeedTouch USB ADSL Modem out while connected and with no warning....so I have only ever had 2, that is TWO kernel panics.
I use a XITEL USB Optical feed to my DAC from my iMac (damn nice it is too!) so when I am playing MP3s it is loading the USB bus heavily. USB seems to be a achilles heel for OS X.
I've have numerous versions from 10.0.4 to 10.2.6 (still no 10.2.8) and many have had Kernel Panics related to USB. I think they have eradicated most of them, however they seem to come back to haunt them every time they build a new Kernel (i.e. every major revision).
I am not trying to defend the WWDC Panther, but AM I THE ONLY ONE HERE THAT ONLY HAD MINOR PROBLEMS THAT COULD BE RESOLVED!?!?!? - with the accecption of it having a fight with the Alcatel driveers and (THE ADSL MODEM) not working. THE COMPUTER WAS FINE.
Dan.
---------- iMac therefore I am.
