From: Greville Whittle <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Do you know if there is a way to turn off the brushed metal look?
There's no built-in way, but rest assured somebody will come up with a hack that does the job. Or you can always learn a little XML and photoshop up your own "skin." That's all the brushed metal is btw -- a "skin" linked by XML.
Personally I *really like* the brushed metal on most things (particularly Safari -- it really "pops" the colourful web content out from the browser in exactly the way IE didn't), but I'm less enthusiastic about it for Finder windows (in Panther). Time will tell, I guess, but for me the pinstriping in Aqua was harder to take. I switched that to Smoothstripes (ie no stripes) using a third-party system pref pane called Desktop Scheme and have been very happy with it ever since.
