What is the printer make, model and interface ??? I upgraded from OS9.1 to OSX on an unsupported Mac PCI clone a few months ago..
I have a ancient LaCie USB CD writer that does NOT work with OSX. Under Jaguar 10.2.6 I plugged it in anyway (on the old PCI Mac ) just to see if I could use it as an external CD-ROM drive. Just to see what it would do I launched the latest version of Toast and tried to burn a CD. It worked like a charm !!! Now I use it all the time instead of the FireWire burner on my daughter's iMac. Maybe your printer will work without drivers....if perhaps it has the same "engine" as something more common. Worth a try.
