A relative is interested in getting an ipod, I don't know which of the
3, to connect via a firewire to USB cable to her 333Mhz strawberry
imac.

That won't work. I suppose it's conceivable that she MIGHT be able to use the iPod as a hard drive IF she adapts the FW to USB2 (which will drop down to USB1 on her machine), but I'm very confident that iTunes will not work with the iPod on a machine that does not have Firewire.


Luckily, she can add FW (and boost the processor big time) by buying a HARMONi upgrade from Sonnet (I think -- it works with Rev. A-D iMacs). It's very inexpensive considering the boost involved.
