I have the first DV SE (1999) and recently mine did as yours did and died. Fortunately I had a 5 year warranty. With mine, they had to replace the power supply board and mother board (analog and logic boards). I did not loose my data on the HD. From my research, this is usually what has to be replaced. I also found this problem has a name within techs as "green light of death".
Remember the squeaky wheel gets the oil, so I would "SQUEAK" as loud as you can!!
